The last of my stash

When I used to collect baseball cards back in the day, I would always try to hold back a few packs hoping they would be worth something. Sadly none of the packs I hung on to increased in value. I ran across them going through the closet so figured it was time to bust these bad boys open.

1990 Topps Traded
1991 Topps
1991 Topps Stadium Club Series 1 & 2
1992 Topps
1992 Fleer Ultra
1993 Donruss
1995 Topps Series 1
1995 Upper Deck Series 2
1996 Topps Stadium Club Series 2

Talk about some sluggers here! Sad that these cards are worth almost nothing.

A few Jeff Bagwell 2nd year cards. Barely worth a quarter! 🙁

More dominating players from that era: Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Tony Gywnn. I even found a Chipper Jones RC!

It was fun ripping wax as they say. It brought back memories of the days I used to buy and sell cards at flea markets.

Topps hanger packs at Meijer

My wife and I hit the grocery store (Meijer) early this morning to beat the rush. We stopped in the toy section to check out the cards. I picked up a 2016 Topps Update and a 2017 Topps Series 1 hanger pack.

The Topps Update pack came through as I snagged both a Kyle Schwarber and Albert Almora RC!

Landed a Nomar Mazara RC along with a few other nifty cards.

I came across this Cody Reed RC but it looked different to me. I had to do some digging to discover that this is a gold card.

On the back I noticed it had a serial # on it. 0121/2016 That’s pretty cool that there are only 2016 cards made of this particular gold card.

The 2017 Topps Series 1 didn’t disappoint either. Aaron Judge, Andrew Benintendi and Alex Bregman RCs were found.

Kris Bryant, Jake Arrieta, Kyle Schwarber and Jason Heyward rounded out my Cubs from this pack.

I really like these retail hanger packs. Sure it’d be nice to buy a hobby box but that’s out of my price range right now.

2017 Topps Series 1 hanger pack

After yesterday’s visit to the local card store in Peoria, I had the itch to get more cards. Since we don’t have any card shops here, I decided to see what our local Meijer store had. I found a 2017 Topps Series 1 hanger pack which has 72 cards for $10.99, so I had to get it.

I yielded quite a few RCs including Josh Bell, Yoan Moncada, David Dahl and Dansby Swanson. I really dig the 30 year anniversary 1987 cards since that was the year I really got hot and heavy into cards when I was a kid.

I got quite a few Cubs out of the pack as well.

It was nice to buy some cards again and see who I pulled. I forgot how much fun (and potentially expensive) this hobby can be.
