eBay – 1990 Donruss and Score Sammy Sosa RC

Today’s goodies in the mail came a day early according to USPS tracking. I picked up 1990 Donruss and 1990 Score Sammy Sosa rookie cards. Both of them are graded PSA 9 which is inline with my other Sosa cards. This puts me at 75% now on the PSA Sammy Sosa rookie set. The Fleer and Topps should be here next week and I can’t wait to share the deal I snagged for those cards!

eBay – 1990 Leaf Sammy Sosa RC

I’m getting closer to completing my PSA graded Sammy Sosa rookie card set. I found a PSA 9 Leaf card on eBay for $10 w/free shipping. That was the limit I was shooting for so I pulled the trigger. It was scheduled to be delivered today and despite getting the USPS alert for it being delivered, it was not in the mailbox.

I immediately knew the mail carrier had accidentally put it in the wrong mailbox. I checked the USPS website and they don’t allow a missing mail complaint until 7 business days after the item shipped. Now it was up to my neighbors to do the right thing and deliver the package to me or at least give it back to USPS.

While eating dinner this evening, I heard a knock on the door. My next door neighbor had found the package in his mailbox and returned it to me unopened. Awesome!

This card puts me at 50% in the PSA Sosa rookie card set. The rest have been ordered and I’m anxiously awaiting their arrival by the end of the month.

eBay – 1984 Topps Ryne Sandberg

Do you ever have less than $1 in your Paypal account and you start looking for cheap cards to add to your collection? I entered my search terms into eBay and noticed a 1984 Topps Ryne Sandberg card. I bid $0.90 on it thinking I’d never ever win the auction. Well, I pulled it off and won the darn thing. I’m not sure the seller made any money at all on it since there was free shipping.

It arrived today in a plain-white envelope (PWE). It was packed a little too well. The envelope was taped to the edges giving no room to get a letter opener in there. Once I got that open, it was wrapped in magazine pages with more tape. Did I mention they used scotch tape?

I finally got to the card and it was in a penny sleeve inside of a toploader. Yep, the top loader was taped with scotch tape. I carefully cut through it with my pocket knife. I replaced the sleeve and toploader due to all the sticky tape residue on the toploader and writing on the sleeve. Please stop with the scotch tape!

The front of the card looks pretty good but the corners are a little rough. But hey, for $0.90 I can’t complain too much about a 2nd-year Ryno card for my collection.
