My nice coworker who brought me numerous cards earlier this year said she found a few more. She is moving and doesn’t have the room for them and just wants to get rid of them. Most of the stuff she brought me was from the late 80s and early 90s. However, this latest batch must have been the prized possessions of her late husband. A lot of the good cards are in thick screwdown holders or snap together holders.
There are quite a few 1972 and 1973 Topps football cards and not just the common players. There are rookie cards in here from folks like Ken Stabler, Franco Harris, Jack Ham, Dan Dierdorf, Ray May, Gene Upshaw, Art Shell and Ken Anderson. Other non-rookie cards include players like Bart Starr, Mercury Morris, OJ Simpson, Roger Staubach, John Unitas, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath and Dick Butkus. Holy crap! I bought a month subscription to Beckett’s vintage online price guide just to give me a sense of what they are worth. I also looked at past sales on eBay and it’s quite impressive.
But wait, there’s more! I found a few basketball cards in here and one Mr. Michael Jordan makes a few appearances. How about a 2nd and 3rd year MJ card. There’s even the 1992-93 Stadium Club Beam Team card! Wow! I’m a big MJ fan and these are cards I’d probably not be able to afford.
How about a Magic Johnson rookie card? Larry Bird maybe? I didn’t get the holy grail card (Johnson, Bird, Erving), but the Jan Van Breda Kolff, Julius Erving, Magic Johnson card. The Bird card has Junior Bridgeman, Larry Bird and Ron Brewer. Insanity!
I also found a few baseball cards in another box, most of which was wrapped in rubber bands. While the cards aren’t in the greatest condition, I did add a few more Ron Santo cards to my collection.

I’m seriously considering getting these puppies professionally graded. I’ve never done that before but I think they might have more value when I go to resell them vs selling them as raw cards. I’m very grateful for my coworker giving me these cards!
